We’re almost set to release our episode 0 — but we need your help. Deciding what book to begin with is a hell of a thing, and Ben and I have been arguing, debating, grumbling and then debating some more and we finally have it down to two options. So, in the interests of fairness, we are turning it over to you to help us decide which book will be kicking off our podcast!

I agree with this comment, but definitely Mort.
I love the Guards novels, but if you’re not doing the Discworld novels sequentially, I feel like Mort has the best mix of running with an existing thread and doing something altogether different.
I would say Men At Arms, but really if you want to introduce the Watch then Guards! Guards! is the way to go, otherwise you lack the development of the characters and their relationships. Similarly Mort isn’t bad, but is a bit too early in his oeuvre and lacks polish, Reaper Man is a much better exploration of Death, and a better all round book
I’d love to know how you reduced down to these two options – without knowing this, it is hard to say which way you should go.
